Međunarodni
stručni seminar: "The International Forum on
Pension Reform: Exploring the Link to Labor and
Financial Market Reforms"
We have a pleasure to announce the International Forum
on Pension Reform: Exploring the Link to Labor and
Financial Market Reforms that will take place in Bled,
Slovenia from Thursday, June 7 to Saturday, June 9,
2007.
The International Forum is an initiative of the Center
of Excellence in Finance (CEF), a training institute in
public finance located in Slovenia. It will be delivered
in a very close cooperation with Mr. Robert Holzmann of
the World Bank and many other prominent experts.
Pension reform is in the center of public debate in many
countries around the world right now. Given the
importance of its social and macroeconomic implications,
it confronts the policy makers, practitioners, and
academia with challenging questions. Some of the world
leading experts were invited to explore various reform
needs of pension systems in an aging society. These are
stressed by many pressures -- including globalization --
and require parallel reforms of labor and financial
markets. Invited experts will present their views,
discuss ideas, and exchange experiences. The Forum is
expected to make a significant contribution to the
discussions on pension reform and promises attention
beyond the boundaries of the South East European region.
The Forum will start on Thursday at 2 PM with an active
participation of ministers (of finance, labor, and/or
social issues) and central bank governors. It will
continue on Friday, when experts presenting cross
country themes and country cases will address the issues
of how to prepare a pension system for an aging
population (Session 1 in the morning) and how to prepare
a labor market for an aging population (Session 2 in the
afternoon). Saturday morning will be dedicated to
discussing cross country themes and country cases that
will address the issues of how to prepare a financial
market for an aging population (Session 3). Please see
preliminary program here.
Representatives from ministries of finance, ministries
of labor and/or social affairs, central banks,
macroeconomic institutes, and universities from the CEF
member countries, new EU member countries, and countries
in the Eastern Europe/Central Asian region that are
currently embarking on pension reform are invited to
attend the Forum. Many experts have already confirmed
their participation.
While there is no registration fee for the Forum, the
participants or their sponsoring agencies are
responsible for travel insurance and covering the costs
of travel, accommodation, and per diem. Coffee and
refreshments during the Forum in Bled will be provided
by the CEF.
Please note that the language at the Forum will be
English.
Please note that space is limited, so please register
immediately, but no later than Monday, May 7, 2007. As
there will be no conference fee for the forum, the
applications will be taken on a first-come-first-served
basis. All participants must register using the
