ANNOUNCEMENT FOR EU PROJECT ASSISTANT/INTERPRETER

 

 

European Union (EU) funded twinning project Strengthening HRM system in the area of civil service training through twinning seeks for a Project Assistant/Interpreter. The aim of the project is to support institution building through consolidation of the HRM network in the area of training and development. This twinning project is based on the twinning concept that establishes a partnership between the administration of an EU member country and the administration in a beneficiary country. The partners in this project are the Bosnia and Herzegovina Civil Service Agency and HAUS Finnish Institute of Public Management Ltd.

 

The project office will be located in Sarajevo, in the Parliament Building. The project implementation period is twelve (12) months, starting on January 18, 2010.

 

The main duty of the Project Assistant/Interpreter is to assist the Resident Twinning Adviser (RTA) in implementation, management and coordination of the project and to carry out administrative tasks. Also translation and interpretation will be a central part of the duties. The languages used in the project will be Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian and English.

 

Qualifications:

  • To have a citizenship of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
  • Applicant should not be a civil servant or agent of the beneficiary for the past six (6) months nor will be on leave from the beneficiary to take up the position of the project assistant.
  • Relevant university degree (political science, economics, law, graduate of interpretation, language etc.) or secondary education degree, if fulfils other requirements.
  • Work experience and knowledge of international or EU project management and implementation. Knowledge and working experience of EU and state or local administration would be an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills both in B&H and English languages. Experience in translating and interpreting B&H -English- B&H also under time pressure and treating detailed administrative issues.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent team-work skills.
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to use Windows and Ms Office applications (word, excel, power point), and Internet and e-mail, including website administration.

 

Additional required qualities: applicant should be service-oriented, show lot of initiative, be creative and problem solving oriented, able to work under pressure with tight deadlines and have capacity to work in a multicultural environment with foreign experts.
